Be Involved!

You are warmly invited to offer your time to one of the church’s many service opportunities.  Youngsters and adults are welcome.  A rich and varied “menu” of your choices follows.

Acolyte Guild
Acolytes assist the pastor in the Service of Worship.  Acolytes light and extinguish the candles, distribute and receive the offering plates, and assist the pastor in the services of Holy Eucharist. Contact: Susan Foltz (984-4477)

Altar Guild
The Altar Guild prepares the chancel and furnishings for worship. The Guild tends to housekeeping; the care of linens, flowers, and communion vessels; and the cleanliness of servers’ and ministerial robes. Members serve on a rotational basis. Contact: Gloria Chambers (477-9519)

Archive Committee
The Archive Committee identifies, catalogs, and arranges for the storing of historical Mount Calvary documents. Contact: Frances Gerow (477-3638)

Christian Education Committee
In partnership with the pastor, this committee oversees the education function of the church ~ reviewing and selecting teaching materials and organizing teachers and classes.  The education program includes Sunday Church School, First Communion instruction, Confirmation instruction, and Vacation Bible School.  Contact: Heidi Bodanske (477-3037)

Meal/Fellowship Committee
Organized into six supper committees, the Meal/Fellowship Committee coordinates the meals served at church during the year, including the October Homecoming Meal, the meal following the February Congregational Meeting, and the Lenten soup suppers.  Sub-committees also provide coffee hours during the year following the Sunday service.  Contact: Barb Pifer (477-3735)

Mount Calvary’s Quilters
This group meets twice monthly to cut and sew fabric into beautiful quilts.  The quilts are donated locally, contributed to Lutheran World Relief mission work, raffled for fund-raising, and presented as gifts to church members honoring a departure or a special occasion. Property Committee
The Property Committee insures that all church property is operated, cared for, protected,
and maintained as efficiently as resources permit.  Contact: Terry Chambers (477-9519)

Social Ministry/Evangelism Committee
This committee maintains contact with members who are ill.  Committee members
send cards; visit homes and nursing homes; and place phone calls.  Members often
prepare and deliver food and offer transportation.  Contact: Shirley Dellinger (477-3538)

Worship and Music Committee
The committee, along with the choir, assists the pastor in making worship services
more meaningful through music.  The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings.
